Located just southwest of Sioux Falls, SD our passion for retrievers makes them our lives. Nestled in the heart of the central flyway and surrounded by the worlds greatest pheasant hunting, we pride ourselves in retriever excellence. This pride shows each fall with some of the finest retrievers to take the field.
Some call it a passion – to us, it’s an obsession. The dogs are a major part of our lives and are credited with bringing us together. Having Rock Star’s the same age, we quickly became best friends. “Smokes” and “Kota” are the heart, soul and namesake of Smoken Dakota Kennels.
With a combined 30 years of retriever training, handling and testing experience there isn’t a lot we haven’t seen. Over the years we’ve come to believe that the only way to finish a retriever is to teach and teach and teach then test. The finest test grounds for our retrievers is the Hunting Retriever Club (HRC) tests where we actively judge and compete in regular and upland tests.
